Unable to activate visual voicemail May 3, 2020

   I take the same consequence with T-Mobile. It turns out the voicemail number configured is incorrect and there's a known OnePlus issue where yous tin't change it. As of May iv, 2020 OnePlus is aware of the upshot and there is non yet a fix.

   To meet if you were affected:
   Open your dialer and click the iii dots on the top right. Go to Settings > Call Settings > SIM > Voicemail > Advanced Settings. You should see fields for Carrier and Voicemail number. If yours is like mine the Voicemail number is greyed out because there is no choice selected (or available) from the dropdown. Once OnePlus fixes the effect with the dropdown you'll be able to change that number. I don't know if the number is the same for every customer, but one time this is fixed you should call T-mobile to verify what that number should be. In my case, the terminal digit just needs to be inverse.

   Information technology has not been fixed. The greyed out number is tmo'south voice postal service line. I had to download tmo vvm app to utilize the 'visual voicemail'. unbelievable quality control

   I had the same issue every bit stated just with my OP7. What worked for me after some trial and error is to download the Visual Voicemail by MetroPCS app. As weird equally it sounds, this ended up unlocking the visual voicemail in my stock dialer.

   (So first download the visual voicemail app don't open it yet--> Open up the stock phone dialer and navigate to the "Can't activate visual voicemail screen"----> Then use the split-screen part of the phone to accept both the visual voicemail app and stock dialer screen open at the same fourth dimension. -----> Click "effort again" continuously on the stock dialer equally the visual voicemail app is setting upward or showing "activating". ----> This should result in the stock visual voicemail screen appearing, while the MetroPCS app volition proceed to try to connect.-----> You can uninstall the MetroPCS app once y'all ostend that the stock visual voicemail is working.)

   Found a workaround for this. Pop the sim card tray, go into the voicemail settings in the telephone app (Settings, Telephone call Settings, SIM, Voicemail, Advanced Settings), tap the voicemail number setting. A window will pop up asking y'all to set up your voicemail number. In one case you have the popular-up, re-insert the sim card tray. Expect for your phone to recognize the SIM card (i.e. you take a cellular connection in the status bar) and so hit ok in the voicemail number popular-upwardly. The voicemail number setting volition exist disabled again but it should save the new number you set up.

   In my experience visual voicemail has merely worked when I purchased a carrier-bound telephone (i.e. bought the phone from the carrier.) It hasn't worked when I purchased an unlocked no-bloatware telephone.

   Don't know if that helps the discussion, might save you some fourth dimension and frustration.

   Visual voicemail is still not working on OnePlus eight Pro with T-Mobile. I took my T-Mobile SIM out and put information technology in an unlocked Pixel 2 purchased from Google, and visual voicemail works fine.

   The T-Mobile Visual Voicemail app will work on the OnePlus 8 Pro, but the problem with that is you accept to pay coin for transcribed voicemail. With the native dialer visual voicemail app, Google does the transcribing for free. I don't understand how this tin piece of work in an unlocked Google phone but not an unlocked OnePlus that I dropped over $1k on. I'one thousand probably going to get back to Google phones after this one

    I accept had the same result with my oneplus eight and pixel 2. I was also thinking I would go back to pixel after this oneplus. I have only found it to be much buggier than the pixels.

    After being on the phone with T-MOBILE and chatting with oneplus today, I saw in the xda developers that after activating the visual voicemail, delete the app, restart the phone and all works fine..

    Permit me know if it works for yous.

    To those thinking this is a oneplus issue, it is non. This is a T-Mobile issue. Many people have faced this outcome with multiple phones including some with pixels bought directly from T-Mobile.

    Unfortunately getting it working seems to be luck of the draw.

    Well-nigh a week ago I tried swapping my sim card back into my pixel 2. The visual voicemail in the stock phone dialer activated immediately. Conspicuously, either TMobile is blocking this characteristic on the OnePlus phones, or the problems is inside OnePlus itself. Either way, this is a problem that should have been solved by at present.
